Control plant parasitic nematodes in turfgrass the natural way with NEMA-Q, a new 100% natural, bio-pesticide that is OMRI Listed for organic production. Nema-Q controls damaging plant parasitic nematodes on contact and by ingestion. Its nematicidal properties are attributed to the synergy between saponins and other active compounds present in the extract, like tannins and polyphenols. Nema-Q is obtained from the Quillaja saponaria tree native to Chile. Quillaja extract is prepared by liquid extraction of the trees’ biomass. It is refi ned and purifi ed to remove colloidal substances, mucilagens and polyphenols that tend to precipitate. Finally, it is concentrated with heat. The fi nal product is pure Quillaja extract, natural and rich with all the components present in the tree: saponins, polyphenols, sugars and salts. Plant parasitic nematodes damage turf root systems and decrease the ability of the turfgrass to obtain water and essential nutrients from the soil leading to symptoms such as browning and yellowing, wilting and thin patches, and overall reduced turf vigor. Nema-Q provides excellent control over ectoparasitic and endoparasitic nematodes such as: Dagger nematodes (Xiphinema spp.); Root-Knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.); Ring nematodes (Criconmella spp.); Root-lesion nematodes (Pratylenchus spp.); Spiral nematodes (Helicotylenchus spp.); Sheath nematodes (Hemicycliophoro spp.) and others.
