To avoid precipitation and cloudiness, concentrated solutions of potassium silicate should be kept separate from other fertilizers. To prepare the solution, use distilled or deionized water and raise the pH above 11.3 with potassium hydroxide before adding the potassium silicate. Keep the solution covered to prevent absorption of carbon dioxide and maintain stability. When mixing with other fertilizers, add the silicon fertilizer first.
